Today is January 25, 2023. Mom's 2nd appointment is at 1pm. With my sister back at her home in NC and with me working today, we had to get a ride arranged to take her to the treatment. When mom moved to VA 3 years ago she gave up her license because she had never driven in a large city atmosphere, only in a rural setting. She was afraid that she would not be able to keep up with the fast paced drivers here. However, mom's long time boyfriend, Garland, lives in VA as well and said he would be more than happy to take her when ever needed. Garland and mom went off to her appointment just before noon. The location is only 20 minutes away, but Garland, Pop as we all call him, ALWAYS leaves in plenty of time and arrives where ever he goes early. We joke lovingly when ever he tells us a time he will arrive that we should expect him 2 hours prior to the time given. He isn't that early, but of course that is the joke. We all love Pop a lot. He thinks the world of mom and we think the world of him as well. She is still only getting 25,000mg of the vitamin C IV therapy, but this time they did increase the fluid amount itself and again her blood pressure was little high so they set her up with a slow drip. The treatment was again very pleasant for her. Of course this is just the beginning and we are no where near the "sweet spot" so to speak where the treatments will actually really start attacking the cancer. But this is a good start. She is doing well with the treatments and I have already noticed her getting some of her pep back. Over the past few months she has been tired a lot and not really having the energy that she had before. It is nice seeing her starting to feel a little better. Next week they plan to up the dosage to 50,000mg and see if she does well with the increase amount. Wish her luck and say a prayer as this is just the beginning of a long road ahead.
