Today is March 13, 2023, treatment day #15. I didn't blog Friday the 10th, but mom did have a Myer's Cocktail treatment and a doctor follow up on her medication adjustments. The doctor appointment went well even though her blood pressure was slightly elevated at 162/92. We are contributing the high blood pressure, however, with the fact that as we arrived to the appointment she was having digestive issues from the colon surgery and it had her a little on edge. The doctor agreed as all the results from her treatment days indicated that the medicine was finally working as it should. Meiser was a little concerned with the loss of appetite, but happy with the weight loss. She directed mom to visit The American Cancer Society and make sure she is eating only the foods listed in their recommendations for helping prevent and fight against cancer. (https://www.cancer.org/healthy/eat-healthy-get-active/eat-healthy/shopping-list-basic-ingredients-for-a-healthy-kitchen.html) So we are happy after reading through it that we are basically already following what they recommend! After the doctor appointment it was off to Anderson for her Myer's Cocktail treatment. Boy was she happy when the nurse came in with a small bag of fluids and she was set on the fast drip! Her blood pressure had dropped significantly from earlier at the doctor's office to 142/68! So we are feeling positive that the blood pressure was only high due to the digestive issues she was experiencing. Her treatment was done in about 40 minutes and we were off to get some lunch. She actually said , "I am hungry!" Which she hadn't said in awhile. We stopped at Nix restaurant nearby and she ordered grilled chicken breast with a side of green beans and spiced apples. She only left a small amount uneaten so I was HAPPY. Today was also a good treatment day once the treatment was able to get started. There was issues with finding a good vein. It took four attempts to get the first vein that would cooperate, but then it blew. The fifth vein was a success, but then the IV started leaking. Finally, they were able to get everything situated and the treatment went well from there. All in all, I believe that things are all starting to come together and be more routine. With that being said, unless there are issues with her treatments I am going to start updating weekly, versus every appointment. Thanks again for all the prayers, as I truly believe they are helping and thank you for following her journey. God Bless.
