Mom's appointment is at 11am. We all wake up excited to see how her first treatment will go. It is Jan 23, 2023. We arrived early to the appointment and they were delighted to see us. It was just like their website, a very homey feel. The treatment room looks like a living room with very comfy chairs to sit in. They direct us to the treatment room and tell us the nurse will be right in and give us a few papers to fill out. Mostly the standard forms except no place for insurance info. We realize that this will be an out-of-pocket expense! These treatments are not cheap, but saving our mom is very worth it! The nurse came in and was extremely nice. She wanted mom to feel comfortable and at ease. She explained that we will need to start off with the lowest dosage at first to see how mom's body reacts to the treatment. So she will be started on 25,000mg of high dose vitamin C. She will then slowly work up to 100,000mg. The nurse starts to prep mom for the IV. She asks mom which arm she is most comfortable to have the IV placed. Mom laughs and jokes that her veins like to play hide and seek and which ever arm she can find one would be fine. They started her off on a slow drip because her blood pressure was a little high. The nurse told my sister and I that we could wait in the waiting area. Mom said there was no reason for us to seat around as the nurse said it could take up to 2 hours. My sister and I had not eaten anything today so we head off to find somewhere close for food. We found this great little mom and pop type all day breakfast and lunch restaurant, Nix. It was packed which was a good sign that the food should be great. It was hard to find a seat, but this nice lady saw us and advised that she was about to leave and we could have her table. We sat down and ordered our food. It was delicious. We had told mom to give us a call when she was ready. Just before we got the check she called and was all done. We paid the bill and was on our way back to Anderson Integrated Medicine. Once we got there mom was all smiles and said she was feeling good. We talked with the nurse and set up her next appointment for Wednesday the 25th. Then we headed home. Ruth Anne has to get back to NC. Once we got mom home, Ruth Anne packed her things and said her good byes. The journey continues.
