Busy Day...Lots of appointments

Today is February 6, 2023 and it was an early start. I, myself, had an early 7:45am appointment with the ENT. Thankfully, that was all good news for me. Mom's blood pressure has been very high so we had called last week to see about getting her an appointment today before her treatment. Her primary care physician was all booked for the day, but was accepting walk-ins starting at 8 am. So as soon as my appointment was done we headed straight over. I had mom checked in by 8:30am and the wait began. We got called back to do her weight check and get her blood pressure checked. Her blood pressure was thankfully 150/84! That was good to hear as over the last several days the Systolic (the upper number) has been between 160-211and the Diastolic (the lower number) has been between 91-121. We went back to the waiting room to wait to be called back to see her doctor. This was a long wait. I dozed off a few times ☺. We finally got called back a little after 10am. The wait was worth it! Her primary care physician said that most home blood pressure monitors will have higher results than the ones used at the doctor's office. However, she did feel that all the stress that mom has been under with the cancer and treatments and the worry about how we will be able to pay for everything is probably the root cause of the elevated blood pressure. She increased mom's anxiety medicine a little and upped her blood pressure medicine as well to make sure she maintains good levels. So now we head out to her treatment. We get to her treatment a little early and discussed the situation around her blood pressure. They took her blood pressure and it was 165/88. So elevated more than at the doctor's office. But it has been a long day as it is already 1:45pm. The nurse said they will continue with the 50,000mg with a slow drip and include magnesium in the IV to help with the blood pressure. The treatment went well and they checked her blood pressure again before we left. It was 150/86, almost the same as earlier at the doctor's office! As long as we can keep her in this range all is good. Thank you for following her journey and God bless.
